ART CONTEST: WE ALL LIVE FROM MANGROVES
MarVivo Foundation is pleased to present the first Art Contest 2022, Todos Vivimos de los Manglares. The MarVivo Foundation aims to raise awareness, through art, about the vital role our mangroves play in coastal communities and the rich marine life around Baja California Sur.

About the contest
All age groups are welcome to create a two-dimensional artwork that illustrates the theme’s message: We All Live from Mangroves. Contestants may use any media or combination of media as long as the artwork meets the size requirements designated in the guidelines.

- Eligibility Requirements
All ages are welcome. You must be a resident of Baja California Sur and submit the entry in Spanish and with the correct size and orientation requirements.
- Project Entry Requirements:
- The artwork must be two-dimensional.
- Art can be a drawing, painting, digital medium or a combination of them and must be related to the theme of the contest: We all live from the Mangroves.
- The text “We All Live from the Mangroves” should be incorporated into the artwork. The phrase must be large and clearly visible, so that it can be read from a billboard.
- The format of the artwork must be horizontal with a height ratio: Width between 40x50cm and 40x60cm, without frame or external lines.
- The winning participant grants permission to MarVivo México A.C. for the printing and exhibition of their artwork on billboards and common spaces in the communities of Bahía Magdalena (dates and place to be confirmed).
- All entries grant non-exclusive rights to use the artwork in educational activities, social media, newspaper articles and other related media.
- The artwork must be accompanied by an essay of no more than 300 words. The essay should describe the significance of the work in representing the theme of the Todos Vivimos de Los Manglares contest. The essay will be sent to the panel of judges to assist in the understanding of the artwork. The essay should focus on answering the following questions:
- How does your artwork interpret the theme: We All Live from The Mangroves?
- Why is this fear important to you?
- What perception do you hope to create in the people who see your work?
- If the applicant is under the age of 16, an adult can help convey the child’s ideas in an essay.
Online registration can be found on the website www.fundacionmarvivo.mx. All questions must be completed on the registration form. In addition to the information requested on the entry form, artists must attach a photograph of their work for the panel of judges and their written essay. Only online registration will be approved with the completed registration form, the photograph(s). All original artworks must be kept until the winner is announced, as the winner must submit the original work. The delivery of the original will be coordinated between the MarVivo Foundation and the winner after the announcement of the winner.

Images: .jpeg (preferably in high resolution). Art 2-D: 1 image Ratio Height:Width: 1:4 Orientation: Horizontal Essay: .doc, .docs, .pdf
- Additional requirements
- To be complete, all applications must be in Spanish and include the following: Entry title, sender’s name, sender’s age, address and zip code, phone number, and email address. If the participant is under the age of 18, the application must include the name, email and signature of the parent or legal guardian’s entry permit. All these elements must be valid in order to accept the prize. The primary email address must be correct to receive shipping confirmation and other notifications. It is recommended that participants make every effort to ensure that MarVivo’s email is not identified as spam.
- All Tickets must be downloadable to be accepted.
- All registrations and registration forms must be submitted by July 10 at 11:59 p.m. Registrations submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
- Participants must not participate with the same artwork in another art contest during this competition.
- Only one artwork per contestant will be accepted.

- Entry Confirmation
Each participant will receive a confirmation of registration once the form has been received and the artwork has been successfully uploaded. In the event that the contestant believes they have submitted their full entry without receiving the confirmation email, it is the contestant’s responsibility to send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Art Contest” and a detailed description of the date and time of submission within 24 hours of registration in order to check the status of the entry. Once an entry has been successfully uploaded, it will be reviewed for approval. Once approved, a second email will be sent notifying the contestant of their approval. If the participant does not receive the confirmation email of the artwork within 72 hours, an email requesting confirmation of approval must be sent to [email protected] with the subject line “Art Contest”. All works of art must be approved in order to compete.
- Age of the artist
The contest is open to all ages. Contestants under the age of 18 must provide confirmation from the parent/legal guardian.
- Entry costs
All costs associated with the production of the artwork are the sole responsibility of the participant.
- Designated Artist
If a group of people chooses to collaborate on a work of art, one (1) person must be designated as the group’s representative to participate in the contest. This person will be the main contact of the group. All group members must agree to the contest rules and that the designated person accepts the prize on behalf of the group, if applicable. Fundación MarVivo is not responsible for disputes between collaborators arising out of or related to the contest.
- Selection of Winners
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges invited by the marvivo Foundation staff. The decisions of the MarVivo Foundation and the judges will be final. Entries will be evaluated through a process in which judges will evaluate eligible entries along with trial information based on the following evaluation criteria:
- Artistic merit (e.g., aesthetic value, use of artistic elements)
- Adherence to the theme (communication of the theme – We all live from The Mangroves)
- Creative interpretation (unique perspective of the theme –We all live from the Mangroves).
- Impact (ability to inspire viewers to take environmental action)
Entries can be posted online at Fundación MarVivo and on Fundación MarVivo’s social media platforms. Winners and finalists must not post their artwork online or social media until after July 10, 2022.
- General conditions
The contestant accepts the rules of the contest with the submission of his registration. These Official Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state without regard to its conflict of law rules.
- Liability and Release
By submitting their artwork, all participants agree to assign all rights to their artwork to the MarVivo Foundation for use in advertising, promotion, and public display.
